Hatchett Creek Adventures

Welcome to Hatchett Creek Adventures

One of the world’s largest patches of Cahaba lilies is located 2 miles west of US Hwy 231/AL Hwy 21 on Hatchett Creek.

Hatchett Creek is located in Central Alabama, about halfway between Birmingham and Montgomery near Rockford in Coosa County.  It's easy to find and a must on every true adventurer’s list of creeks and streams to be explored.  Officially beginning at Bull’s Gap in Clay County, Hatchett Creek runs southwest for 40 miles before joining the Coosa River on Lake Mitchell.  Falling some 400 feet, the creek has many Class 1 and 2 rapids.  During the high rain periods Class 3 rapids are abundant.

Hatchett Creek Adventures will rent you a canoe, kayak, or tube and assist you in getting to the launch site of your choice.  We provide life jackets, paddles and information to get you started.  Then it's up to you and the creek for as long as you care to stay.  We offer 3/4 hour, 5/6 hour, and overnight trips.  There's plenty of beautiful nature and sand bars to explore.

We’re open year round, but our shuttles run only on weekends.  Our “Tote & Float” program allows you to come up with your equipment and return the same day.  Spring 2007, we will offer a “Ride & Float” program.  You can ride your motorcycle to a secured parking area.  We will then shuttle you to and from your desired launch site.

We at Hatchett Creek Adventures are members of PALS (People Against A Littered State).  We have adopted 3 crossings, US Highway 231, Coosa County Road 29 and King’s Bridge on County Road 18.  We are dedicated to keeping Hatchett Creek clean and safe.  Such a natural and beautiful stream deserves all our efforts.
